Іst International Festival-competition named after Bohodar Kotorovych«MAESTRO-Fest»
BOHODAR KOTOROVYCH (1941–2009) is an outstanding Ukrainian violinist, conductor, teacher, Ambassador of Ukrainian Culture, People's Artist of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine, Head of the Violin Department, Professor of the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music and Sydney Conservatorium of Music, laureate of Taras Shevchenko National Prize, and Vernandskoho prize from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, founder, artistic director and conductor of the National Chamber Ensemble "Kyiv Soloists".
The name of the famous artist is connected with the whole epoch of the formation of the national musical art, in particular the foundation of the modern Ukrainian violin school and the foundation of the first Ukrainian International competition for young violinists. Maestro was the only Ukrainian performer who, among the few musicians in the world, had the honor of playing the unique violin of Niccolo Paganini, "CANNONE", which was brought from Genoa to Kyiv by a special plane. Bohodar Kotorovych dedicated his life to art. The Maestro's diverse creative and public activities were focusing on reviving the deep layers of the spiritual treasure of national culture and aimed to support and provide education to talented youth, widely present Ukrainian art in the world, strengthen international cultural ties and promote cultural diplomacy. Supporting the traditions set by the great Teacher, his students now brilliantly represent the achievements of national professional performance around the world, attesting to the high image of the Ukrainian state and its artistic achievements. The name of Bohodar Kotorovych is forever engraved in the golden fund of national and world art.
